The Village’s volunteer boards and commissions are composed of residents appointed by the Village Board who have special expertise and are committed to maintaining the standards of the Village. Many decisions made by Village Government are based upon the recommendations of these boards and commissions.
Oversees the local adjudication courts for non-moving traffic violations and for property code violations.
The Beautification Commission
It is the Mission of the Beautification Commission to promote the beautification of residential and commercial properties within the community and to promote the use and care of trees throughout the Village and maintain our Tree City USA Designation.
The Board of Fire & Police Commissioners
Tests, appoints, and handles general disciplinary matters, suspends, and dismisses personnel within the Village’s Police and Fire Departments.
The Community Relations Commission
Works to maintain positive relations among all persons living and working within the Village of Hazel Crest. Also hosts a variety of events and projects, including a Holiday Giving Tree for local children in need.
Unite shareholders within the community for the purpose of creating and supporting jobs, businesses and institutions that positively impact the region.
Promotes health and healthy lifestyles within the community. Educates residents on diabetes, heart disease, stroke prevention, breast and prostate cancer, and other diseases affecting the community.
Open Lands Committee
Works to develop, improve and beautify the Village’s Open Lands areas.

The Planning & Zoning Commission
Monitors and updates the Comprehensive Development Planning and Zoning ordinances for the Village and conducts public hearings on zoning classifications and variances.
The Senior Commission is comprised of seven members. If you have been selected by the Village President to become a commissioner for the Senior Commission of Hazel Crest, Illinois. This is a voluntary position but we expect your best in representing our senior community. There will be a meeting once a month where the seniors of Hazel Crest are invited to attend. There will be a master call list of names to call to remind the seniors of the monthly meetings. This should be done a few days before the meetings. In lieu of calling, a yearly schedule will be given to the seniors. If the attendance declines, the seniors will then be called. At the meetings you can give the name(s) of seniors to be added to the master call list.
